HSE First Aid at Work - 3 Days

Who should attend?

All employers in the UK have a legal obligation to carry out First Aid Risk Assessments and identify the appropriate level of first provision for their organisation. Following this process employers should identify appropriate individuals to attend a statutory HSE approved First Aid at Work training course.

Why should you attend?

Our unique first aid training courses empower the candidates with the skills and knowledge to manage effectively any first aid emergency and minor situation. Utilizing the latest techniques in casualty simulation we give the candidates the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge in realistic scenario, thus increasing their confidence.

Course Outline

This course is delivered over 3 days.

Candidates will be required to undergo three practical assessments. On completion of the courses candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider
  • Understand the importance of preventing cross infection
  • Understand the need for recording incidents and actions
  • Demonstrate effective use of available equipment
  • Understand how to assess the situation and circumstance in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Demonstrate Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Demonstrate dealing with an unconscious casualty and applying the Recovery Position
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who has: sustained bleeding injury; suffering from shock; suffered a minor injury; sustained a burn or scald; sustained an eye injury; sustained sudden poisoning; sustained anaphylactic shock; sustained an injury to their bones, muscles or joints; sustained a spinal injury
  • Administer care to a casualty who is suffering from a heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes
  • Understand the Chain of Survival
  • Additional subjects can be added and tailored to meet the client's requirements

Meet the Trainer

Dave Middlemiss Grad IOSH, MifL, MintLM

Dave has been the Managing Director and lead trainer of a Health and Safety training company for 10 years. He is responsible for the design and delivery of all aspects of HSE First Aid, Health & Safety including NVQ L4, NEBOSH & IOSHMS and training the trainer courses.  Registered as a HSE, CIEH, IOSH, NEBOSH approved trainer, Dave is also a qualified Assessor. He started his training career while serving with the RAF where he was a training developer for the RAF Medical Services. He also spent many years delivering medical training courses at all levels. Dave is a pragmatic and dynamic trainer who is passionate about delivering high quality, fun and delegate focused training courses which participants can apply to their working and personal lives.
