CIEH Award in Training Skills and Practice (Level 3)
Who should attend?
This qualification is aimed at those who want to develop practical training skills and gain a recognised training qualification.
Why should you attend?
Either as a first time trainer needing to understand the basics of training skills and practice or those looking to define their training techniques, this course provides an opportunity to understand and practice a professional approach to training design and delivery.
Course Outline
This is a 3 day course.
On the first morning of the course you will be required to deliver a short pre-prepared presentation (between 5 and 10 minutes) on a subject of your choice. The course will involve hands-on activity with some additional work required outside of the sessions to develop content and material for your assessed session which you deliver on the final day of the course. During the course, you will learn to:
- Understand your own role and responsibilities in relation to training
- Understand appropriate training and learning approaches in a specialist area
- Demonstrate your session planning skills
- Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate the learner
- Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

Dave Middlemiss Grad IOSH, MifL, MintLM
Dave has been the Managing Director and lead trainer of a Health and Safety training company for 10 years. He is responsible for the design and delivery of all aspects of HSE First Aid, Health & Safety including NVQ L4, NEBOSH & IOSHMS and training the trainer courses. Registered as a HSE, CIEH, IOSH, NEBOSH approved trainer, Dave is also a qualified Assessor. He started his training career while serving with the RAF where he was a training developer for the RAF Medical Services. He also spent many years delivering medical training courses at all levels. Dave is a pragmatic and dynamic trainer who is passionate about delivering high quality, fun and delegate focused training courses which participants can apply to their working and personal lives.
