Speed Writing (half day a.m.)

Who should attend?

Anyone who wants to learn some simple techniques to enable them to take speedier notes in meetings, presentations or other situations and who has never learned (or does not want to learn) shorthand.

Why should you attend?

This half day course will enable you to gain confidence in taking notes and most importantly provide you with simple tools for capturing and summarising key information. It provides an introduction to some basic speed writing and effective note-taking techniques, which if practiced regularly will enable you to improve the speed and quality of your note taking.

Course Outline

  • What speed writing is and the general principles behind it.
  • Introduction of a system for abbreviating words and phrases.
  • Practical tips for taking notes.
  • Building up a personal dictionary of frequency used words and phrases.

Jill Bradley is an HR/ training professional and Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.  Her knowledge and experience has been gained within the public and private sectors (including 10 years working for a large multinational enterprise).  Nowadays, Jill provides freelance HR support to organisations and in addition specialises in providing HR related and communication / business skills training. Jill describes her training style as participative, fun, supportive, thought-provoking and practical.
