Essentials of Grammar (half day a.m.) (In-House Only)

Who should attend?

Do you use words – for internal or external communications? Do you sometimes have concerns about the accuracy of your writing – or the writing of others for whom you are responsible? Would you like to be more confident about the image presented by your written materials? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then this half day course is for you.

Why should you attend?

Whatever your business, you will appreciate the importance of good writing. Everything you write – be it a letter, a report, information on your website, publicity material or even an email - acts as an ambassador for you and your organisation. Everyone who speaks English already knows a great deal about how the language works, but much of this knowledge is unconscious.

Course Outline

Essentials of Grammar will give you the tools you need to ensure your written communications are as clear and accurate as possible. This is an interactive course delivered by an experienced and professional Editor and Writer who is an advanced member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.

  • Sensible sentences - understand how sentences work so that you can identify and construct different types as appropriate
  • Proper punctuation - use punctuation effectively – including the correct use of apostrophes, commas, semi-colons, colons and dashes
  • Good grammar - avoid the common pitfalls and improve your understanding of grammatical terms
  • Clear communication - say what you want to say effectively and avoid misunderstandings
  • Proficient proof-reading - check your own work – and that of others – to ensure that it is accurate, consistent and to the point.
  • This subject is only delivered as an In-House Course - at your premises or ours
  • The cost for up to 6 people is £805 + VAT
  • The cost for up to 12 people is £1120 + VAT
