Anyone who wants to improve their effectiveness in running formal or informal meetings. This half day workshop is useful for those who want some practical hints and tips on running meetings or would like a quick refresher on the subject.

We all spend a great deal of time in meetings and they are often the most effective means of communication between two or more people. A properly organised and well run meeting can save time, generate ideas, solve problems and increase motivation. On the other hand poorly run meetings are often a major cause of frustration and dissatisfaction at work. The course aims to provide the skills and knowhow to enable you to run and take part in meetings which achieve outcomes, encourage participation and are welcomed by those taking part as a constructive work activity. It also aims to introduce a range of tools and techniques to make meetings more effective and achieve results.

Course Outline

The half day course covers the fundamentals of meeting management and includes. 

For those organisations with specific needs in this area, a bespoke full day course can be run by arrangement.

  • A review of the different types and styles of meeting.
  • Preparing for a meeting; for example:
  • - Assessing whether a meeting is necessary.
  • - Setting clear objectives.
  • - Writing an agenda.
  • When to chair and when to facilitate.
  • Techniques for keeping meetings on track.
  • Dealing with common problems encountered in meetings.
  • Agreeing, clarifying and recording actions.
  • Closing meetings effectively.
  • Evaluating the success of your meetings.
  • Action planning to increase your chances of success at your next meeting.
