Working at Heights (half day p.m.)

Who should attend?

Anyone who works at height or has responsibility for staff who do.

Why should you attend?

Any staff who work above floor level or next to any unprotected edges are now working at height, according to the Work at Height Regulations 2005. Many employees are expected as part our jobs to carry out what we feel are low risk, low level work at height, maybe just to change a light bulb or hang a poster. Since 2005, due to the Working at Height Regulations, it has become necessary for employers to ensure we are competent to carry out these tasks and that we understand risks involved. Are we still allowed to use ladders and steps for general maintenance, cleaning or general work? What are podiums, pop ups, hop ups and MEWPS? This course is aimed at both employers and employees to give an understanding of the risks of working from any height and how to select appropriate equipment in accordance with this legislation.

Course Outline

During the course you will cover:

  • Health & Safety Legislation, general laws affected and specific work at height regulations
  • Risk assessment of work at height, hierarchy for appropriate equipment
  • Examples of low level work at height equipment
  • Practical assessment of use of ladders and steps
