Local support for County’s budding entrepreneurs

Gloucestershire Enterprise Ltd is pleased to announce it has been successful in securing the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) for Gloucestershire, as part of a wider contract covering Gloucestershire and West of England, in partnership with BRAVE Enterprise, North Somerset Enterprise Agency and Business West.

The scheme is aimed at people who have been unemployed for between 6 – 12 months.  Clients can access a loan of £1,000 and still receive the Enterprise Allowance benefit for 6 months. They will also have access to a volunteer Mentor to help them formulate a business plan and receive ongoing support for their first 6 months of trading.

Gloucestershire Enterprise Ltd Business Support Manager, Michaela Cozens said "We are thrilled to have secured the NEA in Gloucestershire. We are passionate about giving people the opportunity to consider self employment and have been doing so in Gloucestershire for over 10 years" She added "We already have a team of mentors in place, but we are still on the look-out for more to join us. We are looking for friendly, committed business people who will give up a small amount of their time to support people who have a great business idea that needs unlocking and developing. The role is potentially very rewarding and will make a huge difference to the local economy".
